The Importance of Relevant Keywords in Internet Marketing

Making money online is highly dependent on traffic.  Selecting the right keyword phrases in articles, blogs and tweets helps drive potential customers to engage.  Even in a tough economy, more people than ever are making purchases online.

There are two ways keywords work to increase the number of customers that visit your webpage: (1) real-time searches and (2) webpage indexing.  Real-time search is when a user stumbles across your webpage by entering a specific set of keywords into a search engine.  The potential customer may only browse long enough to click on the first few search results, so it is important that your website rank high.  Webpage indexing is when a search engine recognizes keywords within your webpage and stores a copy of your URL in a database for later retrieval.  Web indexes have advantages over search engines because they remove the human error associated with entering relevant keyword phrases.

Search engines such as Google and Yahoo have algorithms, or equations which are used to retrieve search results based on user input.  These algorithms are constantly changing, which keeps webpage developers and internet entrepreneurs busy developing new web content.  In addition to individual keywords, search engines take into consideration combinations of relevant keyword phrases.  To keep up with the latest search engine algorithms and keep your website ranking high, update content often with a variety of long and short keyword phrases
